RANGE ROVER 2.5 manual P38 DT. This car has been used daily since we have owned it. Recently we did a 1000 mile round trip towing on holiday and apart from topping up water and filling with fuel it was faultless. This Range Rover has severed us well in the 4 years since we have owned it. It has towed caravans, trailer tents, car trailer with various cars on-board and a horse box with two horses in and has done all of this without any major problems. 2.5l turbo charge 6 cylinder BMW engine. I have also taken this off road and for its age I was amazed me how capable it is. I ended up towing out several Discovery 2 and a Classic Range Rover. In the time that I have owned it the following has been done. Clutch release arm pin sheared. This is now welded so eliminates this common problem with P38 manuals. 4x Yokohama Geolander AT/S Tyres 235/70/16 fitted in 2016 and have plenty of wear left on them. All new brake discs and pads fitted in 2016 for the MOT. Secondhand front axle as the original one had a failed wheel bearing and with these cars it is easier to change the hole axle. The axle was from a 4.6 petrol and I understand these are stronger than the original diesel axles. Secondhand front prop shaft as the universal joint had failed. This was changed at the same time as the axle. The car came with a dark tan leather interior which was in poor condition so I replaced it with a good condition (a few small marks) grey leather interior. I also changed the door cards and several other broken pieces of plastic around the car. The remainder of the interior which I did not fit is included and is in picture 11. Fitted a heavy duty tow bar as can be seen in pictures 4 and 5. New rear exhaust rear box 2 years ago. Rebuilt clutch slave cylinder. The clutch thrust bearing is now making a noise but the clutch still works. I have serviced this every year and each service has included, engine oil and filter, axle oil, transferbox oil, gearbox oil, fuel filter and air filter. Replaced the number plates. Had professionally welded the oil cooler as it cracked. Again this is a common fault with the diesels. Replaced all 4 air springs/bags. Replaced with a secondhand part the air compressor. The original is included in the parts seen in picture 11 but would require replacement seals. The air suspension does work but can be slow if you have either gone up and down a couple of times or you have left the car for several days. Replaced ABS pump with a secondhand part. The ABS valve block is also included with the car and is with the parts in picture 11. Replaced both front shocks for the MOT Jan 2017. Replaced sunroof mechanism as the sunroof dropped in when driving (again common fault as plastic runners break). The replacement doesn’t drop in but also the sunroof does not work. New glow plugs 2017. The car does take two cycles of the glow plugs to start so I think the glow plug relay needs replacing. Items also included in the sale. 2 old front brake calipers. 1 rear outer tail light. 1 ABS valve block. 1 Old air compressor. 2 rear air springs/bags (these are the ones removed as I changed all 4). Various interior panels all in grey to match current interior. Tow bar as seen in pictures 4 and 5. For the MOT in Jan 2017 the following was done. Replaced all air bags/springs. This car is 22 years old and has. Has been used as a work horse/family car and it has done this very well. Other known faults with the car. It has paint lacquer pealing on the roof and rear lower tailgate/boot. There are various dents around the car the worst is above the nearside rear light. Various scratches around the car. Airbag warning shows on display but I disconnect the display from the dash for every MOT as I don’t have access to the correct diagnostic machine to reset the airbag fault. The previous owner removed the two SRS bulbs for the same reason. Only 1 key, remote does not work and using the key unlocks the front two doors only. The rear doors require manual locking/unlocking. This has never worried me so never looked into fixing this. Front drivers window can get stuck on way up as it tilts slightly but if this happens you need to pull the top of the window as it goes up and it then closes. It does use water but I check all fluids on a weekly basis so its not worried. The is no signs of water in the oil, oil in the water or exhaust gasses in the water so there could be a leak somewhere. Remember this is a 22 year old 169,000 mile range rover so do not expect it to be perfect as it is not. What is has been is a great family car and work horse for us over the past 4 years.
