Air Suspension Diagnostic Cable Range Rover P38 EAS
Range Rover – P38. Diagnostic Lead & USB. Compatible with any P38 Range Rover 1994 to 2002. Read & reset your EAS fault codes using your own computer. EAS Fault – Maximum Speed 35 MPH. Stuck on the bump stops & suspension not lifting. The Range Rover air suspension system carries out a self diagnostic test when the ignition is first switched on and continues to monitor the air suspension throughout any journey. If a fault develops. A’fault code’ is stored in the ECU and depending on the severity of the fault the air suspension will be automatically switched into one of two modes. This is when a minor fault may have developed and it is considered safe to continue driving the vehicle however, the suspension is automatically raised to the high profile and all driver control over the suspension is switched off, the 4 ride height lights are permanently illuminated as a warning sign. This is when a major fault may have developed and it is considered unsafe to continue driving vehicle under normal conditions. The suspension is automatically shutdown and the vehicle lowered onto the bump stops. The 4 ride height lights will start to flash and a message’EAS FAULT – MAXIMUM SPEED 35 MPH’ will be displayed in the message console on the dashboard. In the past a fault would have meant a trip to your local Land Rover dealer with a bill of several hundreds of pounds however. You can now read & reset the fault codes stored in your Range Rover air suspension ECU using your own laptop computer. Often, it is just the case that one of your height sensors moved out of range, this is very common when attaching a trailer or caravan, it can also happen when you are traveling along bumpy surfaces or if you catch the curb. In either case you simple clear the fault code from memory and the suspension would be up and running again. A 16 pin OBD2 diagnostic socket is located in the passenger foot-well on all P38 Range Rovers, so all you’ll need is this special EAS diagnostic lead to connect your laptop serial port to the Range Rover diagnostic socket and a copy of the’EAS Unlock’ software. Two thing to bear in mind. A standard DB9 (RS232) to OBD2 cable will not work, our leads have been modified and tested to work with the’EAS Unlock’ software. If your laptop does not have a 9 pin serial port you will need to use the supplied USB converter instead. A trip to the Land Rover main dealer is now, a thing of the past..
